COACHING PHILOSOPHY AND APPROACH
Figure skating is my passion, and I strive to share my enthusiasm for skating with all of
my students. Figure skating is a sport that helps athletes to develop life skills. You
must dream big. You must believe in yourself. You must set goals...and then you must
work hard to achieve them. You must be patient and persistent, especially in the face
of challenges, obstacles, or adversity. You must never give up! It is my goal to teach
these lessons and the technical skills of figure skating to athletes of all ages and
abilities in a safe, fun, challenging, and respectful environment that pushes them to be
the best that they can be both on and off the ice.

I believe that every athlete is a unique individual on their own path and deserves
teaching and learning tools tailored to their individual needs and goals. I continually
avail myself of educational opportunities available from the Professional Skaters
Association (PSA) and other entities to ensure that the technical information I am
imparting to my athletes reflects current best practices in the field. I am also cognizant
of the fact that what works for one athlete may not work for another, and so I am able
to flexibly adapt to use the tools most appropriate for a given athlete and situation.

In addition to coaching, I am also an editor in the higher education sphere where I am
exposed to the latest research and methods with respect to teaching, learning, and
instructional design as it relates to communication and psychology among other fields.
