With the emergence of the Omicron variant, and recent surge in COVID-19 infections, we want to emphasize that our goal is to provide the safest environment in our power for our synchro skaters to return to in-person competitions.  While we realize that we cannot completely eliminate all risks, we feel that requiring an elevated level of vigilance and observance of CDC guidelines can help to increase safety for all attending the Colonial Classic. 

Please note that these policies are subject to change. These are USFS, state, local and facility guidelines that we must adhere to.  These policies are in place to help mitigate the risk of transmitting or contracting COVID-19 for skaters, coaches, officials, spectators, and volunteers.  

MASK REQUIREMENTS

  • SPECTATORS, OFFICIALS, VOLUNTEERS, VENDORS, COACHES AND TEAM CHAPERONES are required to be masked (fully covering both your nose and mouth, NO gaiters or bandanas) at all times when in the Tsongas Center (regardless of vaccination status). 

  • SKATERS must wear masks at all times (regardless of vaccination status), including for pictures and awards, with the following exception:

    • If an entire team is fully vaccinated, the team may compete without wearing a mask.

    • If not all team members are vaccinated, the entire team must wear a mask when competing.

    • Chaperones and/or coaches of teams eligible to skate without masks will be responsible for the transfer of masks from skaters at the ice entrance back to the skaters at ice exit.

    • Coaches or team managers must attest to team vaccination status at registration and have photocopies of team members’ vaccination cards at the competition for any team that is fully vaccinated and plans to remove their masks to compete. 

 

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

  • OFFICIALS: All officials are required to show proof of COVID vaccination (two weeks out from 2nd dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or 2 weeks out from one dose of the J & J vaccine) prior to any travel arrangements being made.

  • COACHES AND TEAM CHAPERONES:  All coaches and credentialed team chaperones are required to show proof of COVID vaccination (two weeks out from 2nd dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or 2 weeks out from one dose of the J & J vaccine) at registration to receive credentials.

  • VOLUNTEERS & VENDORS: All volunteers are required to submit proof of COVID vaccination (two weeks out from 2nd dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or 2 weeks out from one dose of the J & J vaccine) prior to their volunteer shift(s) to receive credentials.

  • SKATERS: If all members of a team are fully vaccinated, and the team plans to compete without a mask, you will be required to provide proof of the team’s vaccination cards at registration prior to receiving the team credentials. 

  • SPECTATORS: Vaccines and testing are not required at this time for entry. 

SPECTATOR GUIDELINES

All spectators are required to be masked, (fully covering both your nose and mouth, no gaiters or bandanas) at all times when in the Tsongas Center (regardless of vaccination status).  In addition, we strongly recommend that all spectators observe these guidelines, regardless of vaccination status:

  • A test is not required, If you are able to do a rapid test prior to attending the competition, please do so. Our goal is to help keep the spread of COVID to a minimum. Many are asymptomatic and if we can all do our part to test prior to arrival at the competition we can do the best we can to help keep any spread to a minimum. 

  • While at the competition, maintain at least 6 feet of distance from others who are not in your household. Avoid handshakes, hugging and other close interactions with people who are not in your household.

  • Please respect the other teams’ space, try to sit together as a team and stay within your group. Sit with distance between teams to help try to keep each team as their own pod. 

  • Wash hands often, and bring disinfecting wipes to sanitize surfaces such as seats prior to using them.

  • When visiting a vendor booth, maintain 6 feet of distance, and avoid touching or leaning on tables, posts or chairs.

  • Spectator tickets will need to be purchased prior to the event; tickets will not be sold on site. The goal is to limit contact with staff and any waiting in lines at the ticket booth.

TICKET INFORMATION

Tickets will be pre-purchase only. Ticket prices are for the entire day, and include practice ice times and competition ice times.

In coordination with the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell, we are pleased to offer the following convenient box meals to teams again this year! 

Classic Box Meal $10.50 per box

  • Choice of Deli Turkey, Ham and Cheese, Tuna Salad on Bulkie Rolls or Hummus Wrap

  • Piece of Fruit

  • Chocolate Chip Cookie

  • Bottled Water, Pepsi or Diet Pepsi

Signature Box Meal $15.50

  • Choice of Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap, Ham & Swiss with Cranberry Mayo on Ciabatta, Roast Beef & Cheddar

  • Greek Salad Wrap

  • Piece of Fruit

  • Granola Bar

  • Dessert of the Day

  • Bottled Water, Pepsi or Diet Pepsi

Please use the attached order form to order team meals by Monday, January 3rd, 2022 and send via e mail to: catering@uml.edu

All lunch orders must be picked up each day between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.
All dinner orders must be picked up each day between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm
Payment (via MC, Visa, AMEX or check) due upon ordering.
Location for pick up will be the Sal’s Stand located behind 102 103
* Box meals will NOT be available for ordering once the competition has commenced.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

Thank you for considering volunteering at the Colonial Classic 2022! Without you we couldn't organize this great event.

  • PROOF OF VACCINATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS.

  • Masks are required for all volunteers and everyone inside Tsongas at all times regardless of vaccination status.

  • When you sign up for 8 consecutive volunteer-hours or more, you get 1 free ticket for the day of your choice. 

  • Parking Passes will be given to all volunteers

  • If you sign up for one of the following volunteer slots at 5am, 6am or a time slot past 10pm your volunteer hours will count double!

HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS

Avanti has set up room blocks at a wide range of hotels near Tsongas. We will open the hotel booking window at 12 noon, Wednesday, June 9th. Any requests time stamped prior to this will not be accepted, even if submitted. Avanti has provided us the following helpful information about the booking process:

 

  • Click on the link - https://www.avantitravelgroup.com/events/ColonialClassic.html - to go to the Colonial Classic hotel webpage. Links for booking rooms and making team block requests will now be active. IMPORTANT: you may need to refresh (F5) the web page.

  • To request a room block for your team/club, click on the TEAM BLOCK link

  • Enter/confirm the required fields (your email, team/club name, etc). This creates your account within our system

  • After creating your account, you will receive an email moments later that will allow you to make your request for a team/club block of rooms. At bottom of this email, click on “Login Directly” where you will select your hotel preferences

    • Choose your 1st hotel preference by clicking on “book this hotel” next to your first preferred hotel. Confirm number of nights & number of rooms needed. Please try to accurately estimate the number of rooms you need and not over-block. Your fellow competition participants will be very appreciative of this.

    • Choose your 2nd and 3rd hotel preferences in same manner

    • Fill out comment box for any special requests/details

    • Click submit - it is ONLY once you have clicked submit with your hotel preferences that your team/club is in queue. Avanti will fill room blocks based strictly on the time stamp of your submission. It may take no time at all for you to receive a confirmation email from us with details of your hotel and booking link. Or, if we need to reach out to hotel(s) to request additional rooms, accommodate your special requests, etc, this process can take time so please be patient. We will not move on to the next team/club in queue until you are placed at a hotel.
       

Login To Dashboard

  • Once your team/club room block has been setup, you will receive a Hotel Confirmation email from us. You will be able to access your confirmed hotel block through the “login directly” link attached in the Hotel Confirmation email. This will redirect you to a personal “Dashboard” with all hotel information and rooming list access.

VENDOR, SPONSORSHIP & ADVERTISING INFORMATION

We will be offering up limited vendor spaces for the 2022 Colonial Classic.  Please see the Vendor Application for all the details and pricing.
