Colonial’s Broadway Blades - Theatre on Ice

heartsWhat is Theatre on Ice?

A competitive team, new to the U.S., using all aspects of figure skating, incorporating a theme, emotion or story, enhanced by music. Theatre on Ice teams utilize theatrical sets, props, and costumes along with music and choreography to tell a story. Skaters are judged as a collaborative group on their artistic quality, technical skills and relationship with each other and the audience. Skaters are challenged artistically, dramatically and technically in a supportive group atmosphere. The experience of being part of a team offers a positive social experience for competitive skaters whose training can be intense and lonely, or skaters who prefer to compete and perform in a group.

Who are we?

The Colonial Broadway Blades, a first year 2010 Senior Team, recently qualified to represent the U.S.A. next April at the second Official Nation’s Cup. Our 2011 Senior Team will be competing in Hyannis, MA against seasoned (10+ years) European teams as well as our own country’s qualifiers. Our team’s impressive first year started with two gold medals at the North Shore Open and finished in Troy, Ohio with a silver medal finish at Nationals and silver and bronze medals at the International Competition. We cannot wait to proudly represent the U.S.A.!

What is the commitment?

The Broadway Blades meet Thursdays from 5:30 – 8:00 PM. During the 2010-2011 season, we will start on ice for 1.5 hours and follow up with 50 minutes of off-ice training.

Other commitments include exhibitions, shows, competitions, workshops, send-off and photo shoots. Extra rehearsals might be called before or at competitions.
